Rolling Rally Report 2024
The Rolling Rally for 2024 to Lightning Ridge and Southern Queensland by the comments was a successful rally. There were lots of comments about the variety of things we saw along the way. All caravan parks and showgrounds worked very well for our group. Boggabri Drovers Campfire, with 5 vans attending, was well worth the visit with the entertainment, organised tours and food offered being enjoyed by all. Next was the unique town of Lightning Ridge with 7 vans now on the Rally. The highlight for me here was our “Chamber of the Black Hands” underground mine tour and seeing the amazing carvings. We enjoyed the Car Door tours and visiting the 3 Pubs in the Bush. You can’t describe these pubs with words. So incredibly different. From here we headed to St George for 3 nights where we were lucky enough to be there for the annual Show and Rodeo. This was an unexpected bonus. Our next stop was for 1 night at Nindigully Pub. We almost didn’t stay there due to rain previous days, but all was dry enough. We didn’t even see any of the huge burgers they are known for. On the road again to Goondiwindi where 2 days was long enough for our stay. Our last stop was Tenterfield with 6 vans completing the rally. The weather turned cold and wet so all except 1 van headed for home 1 day early. At all towns we had either communal lunch or dinner at a local hotel or club. I would like to thank Carmel (Lightning Ridge) and Bob (Tenterfield) for hosting these rally town visits.
