What a relaxing rally for our club. 5 member vans took to the Pacific Highway to meet at Urunga Reflections Caravan Park. The Jolly’s, the Hall’s, the Brown’s, Terri and the McWhirter’s.  Our members explored the local area, heading as far west as Dorrigo, south to Valla and north to Coffs Harbour, enjoying mostly good weather.

Morning tea was a group activity with the Morning Tea at The Honey Place, with everyone enjoying a chat and coffee.  Most had a honey tasting and purchased the sweet nectar as well.

Coffee cake and breakfast were the orders at Anchors Wharf Café for our second Morning Tea and laughs and conversation flowed for some time until we adjourned as they were wanting to set the tables for lunch.

Happy hour was celebrated each afternoon with members sharing their day’s activities and tales. Champions were decided in trivia, on Tuesday Night before we all went out for dinner at the Ocean View Hotel, Urunga. Happy hour on Wednesday saw Bob and Maureen introduce us to Pigs in a Hole (ducks in a hole as the pigs were unavailable) Lots of laughs, before the courtesy bus picked us up for a night at Club Urunga for the customary Chinese meal at a club.  It was also raffle night at the club and with 25 prized drawn, our members fared very well, and three prizes went to our group.

Quoits was the game of the day at Happy Hour on the last night.  Everyone was involved except for Don (who had a proxy throwing for him).  Don was the quoits champion.

Tony went out to pump a few yabbies (or nippers, if you’re from Queensland). Unfortunately, he was on his own, and the locals were far too quick for him. For every four yabbies he pumped, the heron following him got three and he managed to keep just one. It was hard work for a while, but the local birdlife ate well. In the end, the only things interested in the yabbies were the heron and a bin chicken—the fish were not interested at all. I suppose that’s why it’s called fishing, not catching.

Everyone had a crack at the boardwalk heading from the caravan park towards the beach and down to the wildlife viewing area.  The boardwalk is steadily being upgraded and unfortunately you cannot walk out to the beach.  It was still a very pleasant way to fill in some time.  It will be excellent when completed.

It was a very pleasant, relaxed fun rally.
